Jakub (Kuba) Jerzmanowski
Computer Science Graduate Student & Research Assistant
Hi, Iām Kuba (Jakub) Jerzmanowski a Computer Science Graduate Student at the University of South Carolina. I am interested in applying data science, especially machine learning, to address important real-world problems and improve social and economic conditions.
I am fortunate to be a part of the Valafar Group lab, where I focus on applying machine learning to time series data from medical and neuroscience applications. As part of our ongoing experiments, we conduct data collection, labeling, and model training. My research specifically focuses on human activity recognition, where we design and run experiments from labeling, training, and evaluating our models that perform gesture-level classification and segmentation. Beyond time-series work, I also work on natural language processing projects, engineering large language models to execute workflows and building systems that make information more accessible through modern NLP techniques.
